About Course

This course includes two sessions on theory and hands-on training for the LocalPlanner tool.

The first session will focus on an overview of the LocalPlanner, analyzing its scope, structure, features, inputs, and outputs.

The second session will focus on a demonstration and hands-on training on how to use the modelling tool effectively.

  • How to familiarise the local stakeholders and public officials with the environment
  • Capabilities of the ENTRACK tool LocalPlanner
  • How to create alternative scenarios
  • How to assess the impact of alternative policies

Course Content

Section 1: Overview of the LocalPlanner
Description of the scope and structure of the tool, including the sectoral coverage and resolution.

Section 2: Overview of the LocalPlanner
Description of the features (policy drivers, behavioral and economic parameters, decision making principles) and inputs (data requirements, granularity) of the tool.

Section 3: Overview of the LocalPlanner
Listing of the model outputs, structure of the output report, examples.

Section 4: Demonstration of the LocalPlanner
How the tool is structured (source code, input/output files), how the model interface looks like, etc.

Section 5: Demonstration of the LocalPlanner
How a scenario is created, where the output files with the results are stored, how the Excel-based output file is structured, etc.

Section 6: Hands-on training on the LocalPlanner
Hands-on exercises will be performed given alternative policy narratives.
